les pauvres, on va leur mettre les Bambou dans les roues. Tu vois REMY, du côté de kasangulu il y a des prairies inoccupées recouvertes des hautes herbes que personne n'entretien mais dès que quelqu'un ose faire un projet là dessus, tu vois arriver des vautours c'est triste comme mentalité.

En effet TUPAC, une mentalité bizzare... C'est ça qui tue le pays. La culture de jouissance personnelle. Quelqu'un peut bloquer un projet salutaire pour la nation, juste pour ses pétits interêts privés... Ce pays fonctionne comme ça. C'est malheureux...

L'entraîneur basé près de Saint-Amour a enlevé samedi la prestigieuse Ligue des Champions africaine des clubs de football. Un exploit aux allures de consécration et de revanche…

Si l'Afrique est à la hauteur de la démesure qu'on lui prête généralement dès qu'il s'agit de football, alors Diego Garzitto ne devrait pas tarder à avoir sa statue dans les rues de Lubumbashi, la deuxième ville de la République Démocratique du Congo.

L'ancien entraîneur de Jura Sud a en effet depuis samedi soir tous les attributs du parfait héros puisqu'à la tête du tout-puissant Mazembe, il a enlevé la très convoitée Ligue des Champions africaine au nez et à la barbe des ténors habituels du continent. Un exploit retentissant qui met un terme à 41 ans de disette pour les « Corbeaux » (le surnom des joueurs du TP Mazembe). La nouvelle a évidemment jeté dans la rue des millions de Congolais dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche, le succès de Diego Garzitto et de ses joueurs en Ligue des Champions ayant été déclarée grande cause nationale ces dernières semaines. Pour assister au sacre de Diego Garzitto et de ses joueurs face aux Nigérians de Heartland, l'omnipotent président de la RD du Congo, Joseph Kabila, avait d'ailleurs fait le déplacement à Lubumbashi, supporter n° 1 parmi une foule de 50 000 anonymes qui garnissait jusqu'aux cintres le stade de Kenya. « Il nous a remis le trophée ainsi que les médailles après le match, raconte le technicien jurassien. Et il est prévu qu'il nous reçoive dans son palais de Lubumbashi lundi (aujourd'hui) ou mardi ».

Un rendez-vous de plus sur l'agenda déjà très chargé du Français. Son succès du week-end le propulse en effet à un niveau de notoriété qui s'était toujours refusé à lui malgré un palmarès garni de plusieurs montées avec Louhans, Lons ou Besançon et d'une épopée en Coupe de France avec Jura Sud il y a dix ans (16e de finale). « Même si ça ne m'empêchait pas de dormir, j'avais un peu le sentiment de ne pas être reconnu à ma juste valeur en France. C'était sans doute du au fait que je n'avais jamais entraîné d'équipes de Ligue 1 ou de Ligue 2. Je n'ai pas les diplômes pour ça et je n'ai plus envie de faire les efforts que ça demande pour les passer. Alors, je me suis dit qu'il y avait peut-être quelque chose à faire du côté de l'Afrique...».

Un exil quelque peu contraint également après deux expériences avortées dans la douleur du côté de Louhans puis de Jura Sud. « C'est vrai que ce qui m'arrive en ce moment est une petite revanche vis-à-vis de ces gens-là. Mais je n'ai pas d'aigreur à ce sujet même si la manière dont ça s'est terminé avec Jura Sud m'a ennuyé parce qu'il n'y a pas eu respect de la parole donnée. Ça prouve que ces gens-là se sont trompés mais en même temps, je les remercie de m'avoir mis ce coup de pied aux fesses qui m'a fait avancer...».

C'est donc dans l'est de l'Afrique que Diego Garzitto a trouvé la consécration à l'aube de la soixantaine. Le technicien basé à Digna a su déjouer les pièges dont recèle le continent noir. « Il y a toujours les aléas de l'arbitrage souvent partial ou les coups tordus que vous réserve l'adversaire avec l'eau, la nourriture ou les vestiaires comme ça nous est arrivé lors de la finale aller au Nigeria (ndlr : les premiers joueurs du TP Mazembe à pénétrer dans le vestiaire attribué par les Nigérians ont été frappé par de violents maux de tête...). Il faut toujours anticiper, avoir un coup d'avance et c'est un investissement de tous les instants. Depuis un an que je suis au Congo, je n'ai pris que 8 jours pour rentrer en France ! ».

Pour tenter de rattraper le temps perdu sur le plan privé, son épouse et ses deux fils aînés avaient fait le long voyage jusqu'à Lubumbashi. Les festivités passées, la petite famille prendra une semaine de repos bien méritée dans la luxueuse villa avec piscine mise à disposition par le président du TP Mazembe, Moïse Katumbi Chapwe, dont la générosité pour ses footballeurs trouve son origine dans les incroyables gisements de minerais dont regorge le Katanga, la province dont il est également le gouverneur. « On va essayer de se balader dans la région mais ça risque d'être difficile pour moi de mettre le nez dehors sans être assailli... Et peut-être que les jours qui passeront vont m'aider à réaliser la portée de ce qu'on a fait ce week-end. Parce que pour l'instant, je ne réalise pas ».

La prochaine échéance sportive qui l'attend l'aidera peut-être : champion d'Afrique, le TP Mazembe accède automatiquement à la Coupe du monde des clubs qui aura lieu du 9 au 19 décembre aux Emirats Arabes. Là, Diego Garzitto devrait croiser la route des stars du FC Barcelone, Messi, Henry, Ibrahimovic et consorts.

L'auteur de cet article a absolument raison...Heartland a fait la wôônte du football nigerian, je dirais moi, du football tout court...Comment une équipe qui ambitionne de gagner la CL pouvait-elle rester cantonnée dans son camp à défendre un "maigre" but d'avance? Vous avez vu toute la succession des corners pour Maz? Il y en a tellement eu que c'est difficile de les compter...ça montre qu'on avait affaire à un match "attaque-défense"...Un match à sens unique, qui ne se déroulait que sur une moitié de terrain...Maz était trop fort pour Heartland...Ce match n'était pas d'une wôôte facture technique à cause de Heartland, ils ont joué toute la rencontre repliés sur leur défense...Comme on dit, pour faire un beau match, faut être 2...Hier, Maz était malheureusement seul sur le terrain...

Sports Nov 8, 2009 Minutes after Heartland of Owerri lost the Champions League title on Saturday, CAF and FIFA match coordinator, Paul Bassey, was on line reacting to the tie in Coango DR. He was outraged and expressed his reservations this way:

“Saturday in Lubumbashi, Heartland Football Club of Owerri shamed this country with a pathetic display of football amateurism.

Never in my life have I seen such a poor and lame attempt at winning a trophy.Saturday, I lost whatever respect I had for coaches Emeteole and Iroha as they allowed their wards to play without any game plan whatsoever. Perhaps I am angry.

For the past two weeks in my column in Champion newspapers I kept on hammering on the need to win this cup that has so eluded Nigeria. While other countries have won it for as many as 12 times, Nigeria has only done so twice through Enyimba.

On my return from Lubumbashi I made available to Heartland, a document on how best to beat Mazembe. I included the opinion of Paulo Campos, the coach of El Hilal who went there to outscore them 2-0.

I was so emotional about this cup that I believed it could be more important than the U-17 World Cup and decried the non-release of Okoro to them. I protested the lack of interest by the state government, the relative poor preparation compared to TP that spent ten days in Zimbabwe, yet no one seemed to respond, except AIT that finally brought that match live and gave us the opportunity of seeing live the pathetic display of Heartland.

I did not watch the first leg, so I was not in a position to comment, hence the acceptance of some of the excuses that were offered, including the unwelcome presence of NFF officials.(Did I not warn them? did I not say that this NFF does not emit positive vibes? That the moment they identify with you, you lose?)

Saturday, I saw an Heartland team that held the host for 45 minutes. And that for me was enough tactical victory that needed a change of game plan in the second half, only for me to sit through a second half of so much indiscipline, especially in the defence.

For crying out loud, was coach Emeteole expecting to defend for ninety minutes? Unnecessary time wasting tactics, for a team that knew that all the opposition needed was just a single strike and they were done.

How can a team go all out to court the wrath of the match officials? How could a team allow itself to earn so many foul calls with brute defensive and purposeless play? Then came the pressure they attracted to themselves, earning as many as six corner kicks in quick succession in one instance.

I saw no one in the Heartland team who was ready to take up the gauntlet, ask his colleagues to get out of the goal area, hold on to the ball and frustrate the opposition. There was nobody to do that and they allowed TP to keep on coming at them. I remember that King Usanga opportunity in the 45th. How did he miss that?

And to show you that this team could play, the moment that goal was conceded, they came out and for the first time I could see that there was a goalkeeper on the other end.

How could Heartland have won that cup with such a display? Heartless to say the least.
For once, Nigeria was at the threshold of three key football milestones. I sincerely pray that this hapless play by Heartland will not have a ripple effect on the U-17, and the World Cup qualification match.

Saturday’s display was certainly the best way of how not to play football, not to talk of winning a major continental trophy.”

Un autre article qui parle du match est evoque les salaires. Parait que le joueur le moins paye toucherait 5000$ par an, et primes incluses attendrait 80.000$. Mputu quant a lui toucherait 10.000$ par mois, sans compter les primes, je presume.

First known as TP Englebert, the club was formed 70 years ago by Benedictine monks and became the first team to successfully defend the African title in 1969 and the record was not equalled until 2004 when Nigeria's Enyimba matched the feat.

Les Corbeaux, or the Crows, have been regular international campaigners since, but the closest they came to completing a title hat-trick was in 2002 when they lost to eventual winners Zamalek of Egypt in the semi-finals.

Their resurgence has been facilitated by club president and governor of the mineral-rich Katanga Province, Moise Katumbi. The 45-year-old businessman and politician has invested heavily to make Mazembe a lot more competitive abroad.

"Bit by bit, we are making our march towards the land of the greats. Our modest success is as a result of hard work at the base. Our luck stems from the fact that we were able to keep these youths. They are together on the field and that is why they have great solidarity among them," said Katumbi, trying to explain the recipe for the club's success.

"Our annual budget this year is $5 million as against $3.6 million the previous season. The least salary is $5,000 a year and with bonuses many have already had up to $80,000.

"Our income is meagre, but for the image of the club, for the image of the country and to give an opportunity for our youth, we decided to stay on because it is not the politician who is speaking, but a man with unrivalled passion for the game."

French coach Diego Garzitto was hired this year as part of a $5 million plan by the football-mad Katumbi to rule Africa again.

Mazembe provided 11 players in the DR Congo squad that clinched the maiden Championship of African Nations (CHAN) trophy in the Ivory Coast in March. This was a great advertisement for the abundance of talent on the domestic scene in Congo.

They parade a solid defence, which though have to be less cynical if they are not to be punished by referees for some over-the-top tackles that often go unnoticed in the African game.

It is in midfield and attack that they are at their best with skipper Tresor Mputu Mabi the star of this team. He joined Mazembe in 2003 and scored seven goals in the run-up to their Champions League conquest. He was picked as the Most Valuable Player as DR Congo clinched the maiden edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) exclusively for players featuring in their various domestic leagues.

The highly-rated TP Mazembe captain is now expected to move overseas after fulfilling his promise to win the CAF Champions League for Les Corbeaux. He has previously turned down several offers to play in Europe because he said he wanted to help TP Mazembe to land the CAF Champions League.

The midfielder, who is reportedly one of the best paid players on the continent with a monthly salary of about $10,000, will be 24-years-old by the time the Club World Club kicks off in Abu Dhabi.

Against Heartland, Mputu grabbed the all-important goal away in Nigeria and in the return leg final, he led from the front line as Mazembe finally breached the defence of the visitors with 17 minutes left on the clock to land their third African championship.

Fellow midfielder Kaluyituka Dioko finished as top scorer of the 2009 Champions League with eight goals, including a hat-trick in the 5-0 massacre of Zimbabwe's Monomotapa.

Zambia international striker Given Singuluma joined up in the summer after speculations about his destination, while experienced goalkeeper Muteba Kidiaba has provided stability at the back for the new African kings.

Al Ahly of Egypt have thus far posted the best African performance at the FIFA Club World Cup after they finished third three years ago in Yokohama, Japan.

Mazembe are capable of equalling that feat, and with a little bit of Mputu magic, Les Corbeaux could even surpass that milestone in Abu Dhabi next month.

They could also do with the extra cash this annual tournament offers.
