La décision de retirer le Swaziland des éliminatoires de la CM 2014 a été effectivement prise la semaine dernière par le Comité Exécutif de la fédération swazi de football. Mais elle devra encore être enterinée par le gouvernement qui a mis en place pour ce faire une sous-commission qui comprend 3 ministres dont celui du sport. cette sous-commission se réunit demain lundi 31 octobre et devra tout juste après faire rapport au gouvernement.

MBABANE - Sihlangu have been given what appears on paper to be easy opponents in the preliminary rounds of the AFCON 2013.

The team which are considered among the four lowest ranking in the continent alongside Lesotho, Seychelles and Sao Tome will play one of the three teams before advancing to the next round where they will join the 26 countries that have missed out on January’s AFCON 2012 to be co- hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

A draw for the four team’s preliminary round will be conducted, but Sihlangu will face one of the above three teams.

Information sourced from CAF’s website disclosed that the two teams to emerge from the preliminary rounds will join the other 26 teams which include giants Cameroon, Nigeria, Egypt who all missed out of next year’s AFCON finals.

The 14 teams that will emerge from the 28 teams that will join the 16 that will be taking part in the 2012 AFCON finals where they will play home and away games which will determine the 15 teams to join hosts South Africa (who took over from the Libya).

FA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu when quizzed if the team will be registered for the tournament, said the public will be informed about anything regarding the national team on Monday.

The FA took a decision last week to withdraw Sihlangu from the 2014 World Cup qualifiers where they had been pitted against DRC in two-legged preliminary rounds.

However, the decision awaits approval from Cabinet who have since set-up a sub-committee comprising of Minister of Labour and Social Security Lutfo Dlamini, ICT Minister Winnie Magagula and Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Hlobisile Ndlovu.

The trio has been tasked to meet with the FA and table a report in Cabinet tomorrow.

The country has dropped six places in the FIFA rankings where they are now ranked 175 from 169 last month.
